We teach:

Piano, Guitar, Voice, Drums, Bass Guitar, Ukulele, Mandolin, Violin, and Violia

It all starts with your free introductory lesson. Your instructor will spend the time with you to discuss your experience, musical interests, and your goals.

As a beginner you will be shown the main parts of your instrument. Be introduced to the basics of music such as 4/4 time and note values. Before you are done, you will be able to play some notes, chords (guitar, uke), and rhythms.

For intermediate and advanced players your instructor will ask about your current skills and where you want to improve and custom tailor a lesson plan that will get you to your goal.

At Jewell Tone Music we invest into our students so they can get the most out of their instrument. We personalize your lesson journey so that you see regular  progress and gain a real sense of accomplishment!

Carla has been playing piano since age 8 (a LONG time!). She studied privately with Juliard
Graduate, Julia Bowen and also studied Music Education at George Mason University,
Carla has been teaching privately since 1982. Her teaching philosophy is comprehensive and
includes note recognition, intervallic reading, an understanding of melody, harmony, rhythm,
tempo, dynamics, technique and artistry. Her goal is for the student to appreciate music as an
art form and to learn to interpret it expressively. She views each student as a unique individual
and works with each student on his or her level.
She has also served as a church pianist and worship team member for many years.
Additionally, she spent several years serving as Accompanist to Fauquier County High School
choirs and also has accompanied many individual performers throughout the years.
Carla and her husband John opened Jewell Tone Music in the Spring of 2012. They are empty
nesters with two grown children.
